Capital Investment Programme

The Capital Investment Programme improves the cultural infrastructure of places across the country, in turn supporting the production of high-quality creative work and unleashing creative potential.

Thanks to Government funding, the Capital Investment Programme provides financial assistance to cultural and creative organisations to invest in equipment, digital infrastructure and technology; to acquire and adapt buildings for cultural use; and to extend and upgrade existing spaces.

The programme supports the Arts Council England’s mission to ensure communities across the country have the infrastructure where creativity for everyone can thrive.

The Capital Investment Programme is one of many Arts Council England funding programmes and is just one of the ways we support arts, culture and creativity, to help us deliver the aims of our Let’s Create strategy.

You can find out more about the organisations and projects supported to date through the Capital Investment Programme in the spreadsheets below.

Supported projects: Round 2

On Wednesday 8 May 2024 we announced the Capital Investment Programme: Round 2 Awards 2023/24 and 2024/25, which sees 67 cultural and creative organisations around the country benefit from a share of £24.2 million.

In its second round, the Capital Investment Programme will again deliver grants from £100,000 to £750,000 to provide much needed financial assistance to improve access, enhance the environmental performance of buildings, vehicles and equipment, and increase technological capability to produce, distribute and exhibit cultural content. These projects will help secure the creative future of towns, villages and communities in England, including in places where cultural investment has previously been too low.

From the refurbishment and expansion of Hereford Museum and Art Gallery, and upgrading and damp-proofing the Almeida Theatre’s rehearsal room in London, to transforming Carpenters’ Yard at Priddy’s Hard in Gosport into a hub of creativity and culture, the development by Future Yard of a performance space in Birkenhead for musicians at every stage of their career, and the fit-out of a new gallery building at The Towner in Eastbourne, these grants will provide recipients with new funding to invest in the digital and physical infrastructure of cultural spaces across the country.
